Neurons
- Basic processing unit in the brain that converts
multiple input signals to an output signal via
a voting process.
- The output is a selective bias of the inputs
to produce its desired output in its decision making
process.
- Mathematically, a neuron computes an input/output
(I/O) mapping function such that for a given input,
it produces a specific output.
Neural Networks
- A connection of neurons.
- The output of a network is the collective ensemble
of its constituent neurons such as the output is
not determined by any single neuron but by the
collective combinatorics of the output of each
neurons in the network.
- Because of the nonlinearity of the I/O function
of each neuron, the output of the network is not
necessarily the sum of its inputs, which leads
to the complexity in a network.
