Java JRE 8 | Computing for Arts + Sciences

Java JRE 8

Java technology allows you to work and play in a secure computing environment. Oracle has announced that Java 7 EOL is April 2015.

To use UNT's eCampus or other web applications, you'll need Oracle's Java Runtime Envinment (JRE). Once you have it on your computer, CAS ITS will automatically update Java to the current supported version. Blackboard's list of supported Java versions is available on their site.

CAS ITS-supported Dell computers running Windows 7 x64 or Windows 10 x64 will have both Java JRE x86 and x64 installed, as recommended by Oracle. Java updates are managed by Software Center.
