Encrypting Email

Under normal circumstances, sending sensitive information through email is never recommended. However, if you ever find yourself needing to do so then you should ensure that the email is encrypted first. UNT provides a simple way to encrypt your email communication.

  1. From your UNT email within Outlook or webmail.unt.edu, start composing a new email
  2. Anywhere in the subject line, add #Secure

The #Secure tag is what tells the mail server to encrypt the message. It must be it's own word and cannot run-on with other words. For example:
