MiKTeX / TeXnicCenter 1StableRC1
MiKTeX (pronounced mick-tech) is an up-to-date implementation of TeX/LaTeX and related programs for Windows. TeX is a typesetting system written by Donald Ervin Knuth to support printing and publishing of text with a lot of mathematical formulae.
For in-depth information on the usage of TeX/LaTeX, check out these community questions/discussions:
- How to look up a symbol or identify a math symbol or character?
- How to influence the position of float environments like figure and table in LaTeX?
- Question mark instead of citation number
- Why is \\[ … \\] preferable to $$ … $$?
- Where do I place my own .sty or .cls files, to make them available to all my .tex files?
- Keeping tables/figures close to where they are mentioned
