This is the appearance of Hatchett's coach-making business (1783, by John Miller). John Hatchett was noted as "Master of the Coachmakers Company" in 1785, written up in European Magazines. His company employed several hundred workers. By 1791 there were at least 25 coach-makers on Long Acre, with several dozen supporting trades (leather goods, woodworking, etc.). John Hatchett was the son of William Hatchett, recorded as apprenticed coachbuilder in 1751. Courtesy, London Metropolitan Archives, City of London.
