2nd of eight photos related to Agricola's death (1555). Agricola died in Chemnitz, but he was buried in Zeitz. Agricola had always resisted the Reformation, and held to his Catholic persuasion, even in the Reformation stronghold of Chemnitz. But because of his great humanism and of the great respect in which he was held in Chemnitz, his Catholicism was never a problem -- until his death, when the looming burial in Chemnitz became controversial. Julius Pflug of Zeitz allowed his remains to be buried at the cathedral in that village. {LINK: to Zeitz}
