Previous | Home | NextThis was the original Akademiehaus on Dorotheenstraße. The two busts in front are of Marggraf (left) and Achard (right), which were mounted 8 June 1892, and thus date this photograph as being during the 1890s. The Berlin Academy of Sciences established a laboratory here in 1753 and Marggraf was made its director. Later Klaproth did some of his research here, and his address is listed in the 1800 records as "Letzte Straße 7"; when the name of the street was changed to Dorotheenstraße in 1822, the renumbering of the street rendered the new address as "Dorotheenstraße 10."
