In 1795 young Bernard Courtois left Dijon to work with M. Frémy in Auxerre (north of Dijon) and finally in 1798 moved to Paris. In 1802 the father Jean-Baptiste moved to Paris where he reestablished his saltpeter business on what is now Rue Trousseau{LINK: ParisA053}.
