London, England/london2G-523Previous | Home | NextThe origin of sample "1" which is the "seleniferous deposit from the sulfuric acid chambers of Tilkerade [sic]" has historically been misidentified. It is true that A. W. Hofmann at the Royal College of Chemistry {LINK: London2E-305} procured his samples from ore for Crookes originally from Tilkerode, Germany{LINK: Tilkerode010} but the sulfuric acid chambers were in Goslar-Oker, Germany{LINK: Goslar100}. No doubt this error originates from some communication or recording error one and a half centuries ago when the ore was transferred to Great Britain. Samples ""2" and "3" are self explanatory. The "twenty-five samples" (labeled "4") were shown above. The notebook ("5") is shown on the next two photos. |
