The prominent feature of the campus is the Campanile (Sather Tower; center of photo), which we will use as a reference point as we explore the current and historic settings of the campus. We will temporarily pass by the historic Ernest O. Lawrence Berkeley [Radiation] Laboratory, established on the Berkeley Hills by Lawrence in 1940, which we will visit later. The view is west, toward San Francisco Bay. |
