Previous | Home | NextDuring German occupation in the early 1940s a sign was erected that Copernicus was in fact German. A brave Polish Boy Scout removed the sign. The statue was promptly removed but fortunately not destroyed but stored in Silesia; it was later returned to Warsaw.
