This is the Warsaw Barbican (Barbakanj warszawski) which is in the northern part of Old Town, 150 meters to the northwest of Rynek Starego Miasta, on the way to the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Museum (Muzeum Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie). The barbican was built in 1548 as part of the fortifications protecting Warsaw. It was rebuilt 1952-1954.
