Mitscherlich's work {LINK: to Mitscherlich in Museum for Natural History in Berlin} was extremely helpful in pointing the way for the Periodic System. He discovered isomorphism -- the fact that chemically similar elements form similar crystals. To measure crystal angles, he used a goniometer which had been invented by Wollaston. This and the next 3 photos are devoted to Mitscherlich.
