This is the laboratory where Priestley not only discovered oxygen, but also ammonia ("alkaline air," NH₃), sulphur dioxide ("vitriolic air," SO₂), nitrous oxide ("diminished nitrous oxide," N₂O), nitrogen dioxide ("nitrous acid vapor," NO), and silicon tetrafluoride ("fluor acid air," SiF₄).
