The Tilkerode area. There are a number of informational signs
erected throughout the area. For those with a free hour, a trail connecting
the three points below should prove to be quite interesting; in particular,
a hike from "Center of mine area" to "Mine area -selenium source,"
and continuing north to the road is recommended. Key points are given below:
"Entrance to mine area" is the turnoff to a dirt road serving the
area; there are signs at this point giving history of the area and directing
one to specific interesting sites; in this area are mostly rye and pea fields
- N51 37.28 E11 18.19.
"Center of mine area" identifies the general region of interest; hikes
in any direction should be informative; to the north one enters the forest area
- N51 37.67 E11 19.48.
"Mine area - selenium source" holds the informational signs identifying
the selenium-rich veins which yielded the thallium product, located deep in
the forest area - N51 38.01 E11 19.13.
