Guillaume François Rouelle
1703-1770
He was demonstrator of chemistry at the Jardin du roi in Paris,
France. He had his own pharmacy in which he taught several rising students
of chemistry including Lavoisier.
Rouelle was considered an experimentalist who did not tolerate theories
with no laboratory foundation. He was the first to understand that a
salt is derived by the reaction of an acid with a base. |
