He was a mineralogist who became director of the Royal Mineralogical Museum in Berlin and Professor of Mineralogy at the University of Berlin. He accompanied Alexander von Humbolt on the famous trip to the Ural mountains in Russia and to Siberia. He devised the "crystal-chemical mineral system," organizing minerals on the basis of crystalline form and composition. He collected many samples for his brother, Henrich Rose, to analyze. | |
