Excavations in Cluj-Napoca reveal Roman artifacts. Romania was the northernmost outreach of the eastern portion of the Roman Empire. The Romans called this region Dacia. At its greatest extention, the Roman Empire extended only about 50 kilometers north of Cluj-Napoca.
