The university building was completed (1728-1741, according to the design of Christophorus Tausch), and appears remarkably similar to the appearance of the building today. Christopher Tausch included a tower in his original plans (the tall tower in the direct center of the view) but this was actually never built. The university was originally founded as a Jesuit's school in 1702, and is sometimes shown in maps as "Jesuit's Akadamy" ("Jesuitar Collegium"). The university assumed its modern name, University of Breslau, in the latter half of the 19th century.
