Terling, England/terling011Previous | Home | NextThis is Terling Place, which was built 1770-1771, extensively remodeled 1818-1821. In 1761 the property was purchased by John Strutt (1727-1816), and his family moved into the house in 1773. His grandson was Lord Rayleigh, John William Strutt, 3rd Baron (1842-1919), who is considered the co-discoverer of argon. The building to the right was built by Lord Rayleigh for his laboratories.
