Previous | Home | NextCrookes discovered thallium in his home laboratory on 20 Mornington Road (now called Mornington Terrace) in 1861. This view is northward on Mornington Terrace; the house has been removed and replaced by an apartment complex. The house was on the northeast corner of this intersection (just beyond the red mail box); confusingly the cross street (left-right) is Mornington Street. On the other side of Mornington Terrace is the parallel railway bed whose trains made Crookes complain about vibration in his laboratory (the train tracks were below street level; Mornington Street can be seen crossing the tracks on a bridge to the far left).
