College Lab Services IT Specialist

HR Title: 
IT Specialist III

The College Lab Services (COLAS) team provides first and second level technical support, including maintenance and installation of both standard and highly specialized hardware and software, to more than 600 systems across 13 departments and 42 different computer facilities. COLAS IT Specialists:

  • Provide remote- and hands-on desktop support for computers used by students in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, College of Science, and Mayborn School of Journalism for course-specific learning
  • Work with CAS ITS Server Infrastructure and Service Desk staff to develop and test new technologies and procedures
  • Monitor the CAS ITS ticketing system and take ownership of incoming work requests
  • Successfully complete special projects or time sensitive work requests as assigned by senior management.

Full Time Employee
Hours and Schedule: 
Monday through Friday, between 8AM and 5PM, with additional hours as needed.
Pay Rate: 
$3,595.50 Monthly
Role Benefits: 
As a full-time IT Specialist, you will get the opportunity to: get a closer look at the infrastructure back-end to our systems and networks assist in the day-to-day operations of CAS IT Services aid in the development and testing of new tools and processes before they "go live" gain exposure to multiple software packages, including highly-specialized discipline-specific applications
Experience: 
The preferred candidate will have prior experience in: Windows 7 and Mac OS Technical Help Desk environment Working in higher education or an educational environment Experience working with sensitive data and familiarity with existing laws/regulations pertaining to university data (FERPA- and HIPPA - protected).
Communication Ability: 
Must be able to clearly speak over the phone and communicate via email.
Education: 
The successful candidate will possess an Associate's Degree in related field and four years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Physical Ability: 
Position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to table height and back, as well as the physical dexterity required to crawl under computer tables and connect/disconnect computer cables.
