Use this form to request an increase to Home, Shared, or Research (H:\ S:\ R:\)drive space.

Home Drive (H:\ Drive)

A Home (H:\) drive is your own personal storage space. As a CAS employee, you are given a 5GB drive. You can use it to keep your personal and important files available on and off-campus.

Users who can request to change Home (H:\) drive space:

  • The owner of the H:\ drive folder
  • The department chair

Shared Drive (S:\ Drive)

A Shared (S:\) drive is a collaborative storage space given to each department. CAS IT Services manages permission levels so users only see what you want them to. You can use this space to share data among your departmental colleagues.

Users who can request to change Shared (S:\) drive space:

  • A department AA or AC
  • The owner/manager of the specific folder
  • The department chair

Research Drive (R:\ Drive)

A Research (R:\) drive is a collaborate space for sharing data connected to specific projects. Like the shared drive, CAS IT Services manages permission levels so that members only see what you want them to. These drives are commonly used for research clusters and long-term studies.
You can request a research drive for your project/research for no charge at this point in time. Note that in the past we've had to charge for this, and it's possible we'll have to charge for it in the future, so just keep that in mind. In the past, the price was $1 per 1 GB space per year (i.e. 50 GBs of space would cost $50 per year). If we do have to start charging in the future, we'll work with you to hash out those details when/if the time comes.

Users who can request to change Research (R:\) drive space:

  • The owner of the R:\ drive folder
  • The department chair

Your request will be reviewed by a CAS IT Services employee and, if approved, will be carried out as requested.
